Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to summarise the general design of reactor instrumentation, to explain safety systems, to describe the calibration of nuclear channels, to operate the measurements of rod drop time, to explicate the processes in the compensated ionisation chamber, fission chamber and self powered detector as well as to apply the TRIGA simulation program.

Participants carry out eight practical exercises on:

  1. General design of reactor instrumentation
  2. Safety systems
  3. Calibration of nuclear channels
  4. Rod drop time
  5. Compensated ionization chamber
  6. Fission Chamber
  7. Self powered detector
  8. TRIGA simulation program

2 groups maximum with 5 participants, personal registration at start of semester on the 15.03.2022  14:00, applicants who attended Reaktorphysik 1, Nucklear Engineering 1 or Reaktortechnik 2 are favoured, test at the end of practical course
