The various objectives of the FRM4SM project are all stemming from the overarching goal of improving the characterisation and reliability of both satellite and in-situ Soil Moisture datasets - thereby further stimulating their uptake.
As such, FRM4SM will devote particular efforts on the one hand to the improvements and qualification as FRMs of the ISMN SM data, and on the other hand to the maintenance and evolution of the QA4SM platform as a tool to implement validation guidelines. Additionally, this project will ultimately address specific concerns intrinsic to the validation strategy. The satellite components will have a special emphasis on the ESA SMOS datasets and validation protocols.
