After successful completion of the course, students are able to describe the mode of operation and the most important realizations of radar systems and lidar systems and to select the appropriate methods and technologies for specific problems of the application, as well as to recognize the limits of its field of application by the specifications of a radar or lidar device.
Historical development of radar and lidar technology - basic mode of operation (principle, pulse technology, continuous wave method) - performance-enhancing measuring principles (moving target identification, pulse compression, synthetic aperture radar, Geiger mode detection) - maximum ranging calculations (radar cross-section, ranging equations, propagation effects) - detection of noisy signals - realizations - trends in data processing of lidar data.
