After successful completion of the course, students are able to:
- explain basic concepts of network security - describe how cryptographic methods work (including RSA, ElGamal, Diffie-Hellman, Elliptic Curve Cryptography) - solve arithmetic problems on cryptographic methods - describe and apply methods of anomaly detection - use selected network data analysis and anomaly detection tools to analyze network data for different questions
Security objectives in communication networks, threats and attack techniques, cryptography (basic concepts, selected topics), security concepts for communication protocols, network supervision techniques, network data analysis, anomaly detection methods, practical exercises.
Presentation of slides with additional explanations on the blackboard, laboratory exercises
Attention New Time and Location: The first lecture will start on Tuesday, March 7 at 12:00 (not 12:15) in EI4 (not EI 3A). All following lectures will start 12:15 and take place in EI3A.
Please use the following email address if you have any questions: nsvu@tuwien.ac.at
Theory part: written exam (in presence)
Lab part: lab report in TUWEL and lab review (oral exam).
Slides will be made available to registered students in TISS. The slides contain all information required to pass the exam.
The following links provide additional information about the topics. Links to further sources (papers, etc.) about specific topics will be given in the lectures.
