After successful completion of the course, students are able to...
...take on the basic roles in scientific publications (author, reviewer).
...understand the procedures involved in the organization of scientific conferences.
The course is constituted of a theoretical and a practical part. A number of lectures at the beginning of the semester will outline current research topics and bachelor topics at the ICT.
The content of the practical part is a presentation is the combination of contributing as author and reviewer in a training conference, which will be held at the end of the semester. You should write a paper with scientific research. The topic shall be chosen out of the research topics presented in the topic summary talk. The work will be handed in at the conference tool and will be reviewed by other students (you will review as well). The tool is used for real conferences around the world. The reviews will be discussed in a seminar (the program committee meeting). Finally, your paper should be amended, considering all of the comments. The course can be seen as the basis for creating a bachelor thesis, which can be done extending the practical work in this course. Additional information will be given in the preliminary lecture. More information will be given in the first introductory lecture.
For details about the different lecture topics and deadlines see the German version of this page.
