Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to:

  • analyze and control a CD player as a mechatronic system
  • control a fast steering mirror and apply it for laser beam stabilization
  • analyze the observability and controllability of a dynamic system
  • describe the principles of Atomic Force Microscope (AFM)
  • understand the operation principle of MEMS-mirrors and apply their control

Subject of course

This course consists of the following laboratory exercises:

  • Analysis and control of a CD player as a mechatronic system
  • Observability and controllability of a dynamic system
  • Principles of Atomic Force Microscope (AFM)
  • Feedback control of a fast steering miror for beam stabilization
  • Analysis and control of MEMS mirrors

Examination modalities

  • Successful completion of all the laboratory exercises (i.e. 50% or more for each exercise)  is necessary for a positive grade.
  • In order to attend each laboratory exercise, it is required to pass the corresponding entrance examination.
  • Evaluation of grades are based on the entrance examinations and laboratory work, as well as reports for the exercises.
  • Withdrawal from the course without a grade is not possible.
