… give an overview about the actual development in the electrical protection field.

This course deals with protection technology in the medium, high and extra high voltage levels. Principles of protection technology and grounding concepts in low voltage are not part of this course.

Subject of course

Fundamentals of electrical protection, faults and disturbances in electrical systems and equipment, measuring principles in electrical protection im medium, high and extra high voltage levels (overcurrent, differential protection, distance protection,…), measuring transformers, application fields of electrical protection (generator protection, transformer protection, busbar protection, line protection), earth fault protection, fault records, data protocols, actual developments (traveling waves, IEC61850,…), focus on practical application, discussions
