  • Semester hours: 3.0
  • Credits: 4.5
  • Type: VU Lecture and Exercise
  • Format: Hybrid

Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to analyze the operational behaviour of poly-phase machines under unbalanced grid quantities, to explain the mode of operation of DC armature windings, multi-phase integer and fractional slot windings as well as to understand effects and consequences of higher field as well as time harmonics.

Subject of course

Symmetrical components and their application, synchronous reluctance machines, DC armature windings, multi-phase integer and fractional slot windings, higher harmonics in electrical machines.

Teaching methods

In addition to the contents of the lecture, discussion of case studies as well as calculating exercises of existing electrical machines.
