Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to

  • understand basic concepts in quantum mechanics.
  • understand and apply these fundamental concepts in quantum electronics and quantum optics.

Subject of course

Hilbert space, the postulates of quantum mechanics, expectation values and operators, Dirac notation, harmonic oscillator and ladder operators, approximation methods, transition probabilities, light-atom interaction, optical nonlinearities.

Teaching methods

Oral presentation, exemplification by means of online simulations and videos
