Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand the basic operation principles of main THz devices and THz techniques, they are able to orient themselves in diverse technologies used in the THz frequency range.

Subject of course

THz systems and sources: short-pulse and continues-wave (CW) THz photomixing systems, Schottky-diode multipliers, THz quantum cascade lasers (QCLs), resonant-tunnelling diodes (RTDs), etc.

THz detectors: Schottky diodes, plasma field-effect transistors, Golay cell, pyroelectric detectors, etc.
