After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  • Define leadership in the 21st century and what it needs today to be successful
  • Knowing megatrends and clearly differentiate management and leadership
  • Be more aware of your own strengths and weaknesses as a potential leader
  • Apply coaching as a management tool

Participants will know what is necessary and required today to be able to accompany people and organizations successfully and effectively.

Subject of course

The following questions will be addressed during the 3 days: What does it take in the 21st century to be able to lead successfully? How does one remain capable of acting and making decisions despite the abundance of information? What framework conditions must be created for different generations in order to support them in realizing their full potential?  How do you lead today - compared to 10 or 20 years ago? What has changed internally and externally? What has become obsolete and what is worth keeping? How can inspiration happen? What leadership styles are needed? How can leaders successfully invite, encourage and inspire employees to give their best?

All this is to be tried out, practiced, reflected upon and applied in order to promote the students' personal skills. Megatrends, current, developments and a look into the future will be highlighted as well as their own potential.

Registration modalities

The registration process includes the following 3 steps:

1) Registration on TISS until 19.04.2022, 12.00 hrs.: You will not yet be registered for the course, but will be placed on the waiting list until the registration process is completed. The places on the waiting list are not limited and the place on the list is irrelevant, as the selection is made on the basis of the quality of the motivation letters. If, for example, you are 25th on the waiting list and a maximum of 20 students are admitted to the course, you still have the same chances as all students ranked higher on the list to get a place in the LVA. The order merely reflects the order of registration in TISS.

2) Upload a motivation letter on TUWEL (please enrol yourself for this in the respective TUWEL course - you can do this by clicking on the link to the TUWEL course in the course in TISS) by 19.04.2022, 12.00 hrs. Your motivation letter comprises approx. 500 words and contains the following points:

a. Motivation: Why do you want to participate in this course? Please describe your personal motivation, which goes beyond the acquisition of ECTS points for your studies.

b. Expectations: Describe which contents from the course description are of particular interest to you personally and which competences you would like to acquire.

c. Contribution: Describe what you personally want to contribute to the success of this course.

If you have problems uploading your motivation letter to TUWEL, please write an email to line.nielsen@tuwien.ac.at

3) Confirmation or cancellation via TISS by 17.05.2022: The respective course instructors will inform you via TISS whether you can participate in the course or not.

Please note that the submission of a letter of motivation in combination with an acceptance for the LVA already counts as the 1st achievement for the LVA and your letter of motivation is therefore included in the assessment of the course.
