Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to describe essential terms, basic models, methods, tools and concepts of Supply Chain Management and to execute the added value of Supply Chain Management.

  • Theoretical Basics of Supply Chain Management
  • Principles, conceptual definitions, boundaries, tasks, requirements as well as goals and conflicts of objectives of the SCM
  • Components of a Value-Added Network
  • Structure and network types of the supply chain
  • Added value through SCM
  • Process orientation in SCM
  • The SC Reference Model and the SCOR Model
  • Developments and their impact on supply chain management
  • Process management to optimize the supply chain
  • Cost transparency along the supply chain
  • Increased customer requirements in the supply chain
  • Shortened product lifecycles and impact on supply chain management
  • Bullwhip effect and its effect
  • Methods for material structuring
  • Overview with focus on the SCM core processes planning, procurement, production, delivery and return
  • Overview with focus on the supporting SCM processes Controlling, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Risk Management
