Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  • conceptually classify different methods of industrial engineering as well as productivity management in the historical and modern context of production management.
  • describe selected methods of industrial engineering and have also applied them practically for the first time in order to identify, analyse, quantify and realise improvements in production processes.

Subject of course

  • Basics of industrial engineering and productivity management.
  • Principles, tasks of IE, productivity management, production system, work system
  • Data and control variables of industrial engineering
  • Quantity data, time data, time standards
  • Value stream design, lean production concepts, systems, Lean, CIP
  • Time determination
  • Ergonomic workplace design, ergonomic assessment procedures
  • Design of working time systems and pay systems
  • Occupational safety guidelines

Teaching methods

  • Frontal lecture and presentation, discussion of practical case studies, introduction to selected software systems for designing human work, group work and presentation of results
  • Selected methods of industrial engineering are taught in the form of a group dynamic simulation.

Mode of examination

Additional information

At the beginning of the first lecture unit of the VO Industrial Engineering, in addition to a presentation of the contents, the type of processing of the LVA is also introduced. Together with the Austrian MTM Association we offer you the possibility to complete the units of the module Industrial Engineering within the framework of an additional qualification "Basic MTM" (MTM-1 and MTM-UAS).
