Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

...to better comprehend the prozess of organizing, to reflect their own embeddedness in the framework of an organization and to better comprehend their resultion options for acting. Thus they develop their abilities to create a functionally meaningful role for themselves.

Subject of course

The Olab provides a learning arrangement in which organization is as well produced as reflected in its processes. It is less about the dynamics within manageable sub-groups, also not primarily about so-called large-group processes, but the dynamics between groups, the development of cross-group cooperation and the possibilities and difficulties of controlling large social organizations. Contents and procedural issues of the Olab are the handling of hierarchy or necessary hierarchization, the wishes (and their frustration) to be led on the one side, and the wishes (and their frustration) for inclusion and participation on the other, the resulting conflicts over the question of power in general and the possibilities to influence specific decisions. Topics: (Joint) decision making, representation, delegation, power, control, cultures and subcultures, integration of subgroups, comparison of Olab-experiences and other organizational experiences, management, hierarchy and hierarchy crisis.
