Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  • explain and conduct calculations using tensor notation,
  • list and discuss the problems of Saint Venant for prismatic rods as well as their general solutions.
  • identify problems of plane load-bearing structures (disks and plates) and solve them in case of rotational symmetry.
  • apply the approximation methods of Ritz and Galerkin for bending of beams and plates.
  • identify and discuss problems of spatial load-bearing structures (shells).
