After successful completion of the course, students are able to apply scientific and technological methods in the field of applied fluid mechanics. They are provided with practical solutions in flow measurement technology, one-dimensional flow phenomena, heat and fluid flow technology, instabilities and aerodynamics. This includes, for example, the calculation of heat transfers, lift and drag, dimensionless parameters, air velocities and degrees of turbulence.
The lecture is part of the Applied Fluid Mechanics Module consisting of an in interlinked lecture (VO), a CFD project (PR) and a laboratory exercise (LU).
Flow measurement technology, application of practical flow simulation software, experimental, numerical and theoretical treatment of typical applied problems from modeling to problem solving.
The lecture contains:
- Elements of Measurement Techniques
- One Directional Flow Phenomena
- Heat & Fluid Flow Applications
- Elements of Fluid Flow Instabilities
- Elements of Aerodynamics
To supplement the lecture, excursions to facilities of applied fluid mechanics are offered (for example Vienna Climatic Wind Tunnel, Austrian Institute of Technology, Technical Museum Vienna, shipyard of Austrian Airlines).
