After successful completion of the course, students are able to solve simple problems of basic processes of energy transport by heat transfer. These processes are: Free and forced convection, radiation and phase change.
Introduction (problems of heat transfer); forced convection; natural convection; Phase transitions (solidification, condensation); radiative heat exchange between walls; fundamental equations of heat transfer (in moving and radiating fluids); methods of solution (survey).
The content is presented online, live in a lecture part with a duration of two hours. Problems are presented in an exercise part with a duration of one hour. Recordings of the lecures are later offered for download from tuwel.
Three written examinations, each of a duration of 60 minutes. Each examination counts 15 points. An exam consists of 5 questions and one or two problems. Answers to the questions count one point, the solution to problems 10 points. Supplementary exams that can replace each of the regular tests are given at the beginning of the summer term.
To attend the supplementary exams, the participation in at least one of the regular examinations is required.
The points obtained for each examination are added, the total score is equal to
points = max(exam 1, supplementary exam 1) + max(exam 2, suppl. exam 2) + max(exam 3, suppl. exam 3).
Grades: 23 points or more "Genügend", 29 points or more "Befriedigend", 35 "Gut" and 40 points or more "Sehr Gut".
