Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to know the most important application of hydrodynamics in the cardiovascular field, to choose and support appropriate measurement technologies to measure blood pressure and flow in medical application, and to know  basic concepts for the design of cardiovascular medical products.

Subject of course

Basics and methods of pressure-, flow- and plethysmographic measurement systems Dialysis and apheresis: Physical and chemical principles, safety aspects, realization examples
Heart-lung-machine and assisted circulation

The powerpoint-presentations will be made available for the participants. However they do not substitute personal notes for the preparation of the exam

Teaching methods

Lectures and excursion to laboratories for cardiovascular research and prototype development.
