Mechatronic is an interdisciplinary subject combining mechanical systems (mechanical, precision engineering), electr(on)ics (micro and power electronics, measurement, actuators) and information technology (system theory and engineering, automation, software engineering, artificial intelligence). Mechatronic systems gain more and more importance.
This lecture gives a brief summary of fundamentals and briefs with design, functionality and future trends with examples of following specific fields: mechatronic machine parts, mechatronic hydraulics and pneumatics (fluidtronic), mechatronic actuators, Additionally: examples of mechatronic systems, computers in mechatronic systems, genetic algorithms, micro-, nano- and femto mechatronic systems, systematic failure, localisation, ethics in engineering are outlined.
Lecture notes for this course are available.
