Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  • use an existing FEM solver to tackle problems relevant in engineering applications and to critically evaluate obtained results
  • program own building blocks for the simulation and a corresponding analysis

For this purpose, they will in particular...

  • reassess theoretical results from the lecture in the context of numerical examples
  • investigate methods to handle numerical issues present in practical applications

Subject of course

Solution of simple examples by Finite Element programs.

Teaching methods

Linear Finite Element Method

Mode of examination

Immanent

Additional information

Please observe TISS for this course. The exercises will take place during the last third of the semester.

Please note that this course is intended for the students of mechanical engineering. For students of mechanical engineering - economics there is an alternate course in the summer term, i.e., "317.544 Finite Elemente in der Anwendung".
