Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to use special simulation and experimental methods for the analysis of energy consumption, carbon dioxide emissions and local exhaust emissions from vehicle powertrains in real-world application.

Subject of course

  • Calculation methods for energy consumption and exhaust emissions of all emissions sources.
  • Chassis dynamometer with CVS - constant volume sampling measurement devices for gaseous and particle emissions.
  • Real driving emissions (RDE) measurement devices for all transport modes.
  • New exhaust gas short-test procedures.
  • Influence of alternative powertrains on energy consumption and the environment.

Teaching methods

In the framework of the lecture, environmental basics are introduced. The in-depth knowledge is based on the results of our own international research projects. The experimental and computational methods are discussed using practical examples.
