After successful completion of the course, students are able to write their diploma thesis as a scientific paper and thus complete their university studies after successfully passing the diploma examination.

Discussion of the task and the topic of the diploma thesis. Assistance with questions and problems in the context of the diploma thesis. Preparation of a lecture on the content and result of the diploma thesis. Theoretical and practical presentation of the work within the diploma thesis in the lecture hall and in the laboratory together with all diploma students of the institute.

Regular exchange of progress and of the occurrence of problems or ambiguities with the thesis supervisor.

Presentation of essential chapters of the diploma thesis (based on the diploma assignment) in front of the supervisor as well as final presentation. This last presentation also serves as a preparation for the diploma examination.
