After successful completion of the course, students are able to describe sustainability in a global context (also dissipative use of materials, global management of waste, etc ...) as well as to explain how social responsibility for products will become a lived principle.
The development, production and usage of materials are not only determined by technical and economical, but also by ecological aspect. The lecture shows the benefits of environmental sound materials-technology. Based on the idea of closed loop materials life cycle, material selection will be discussed and evaluated. Case studies will help to understand the interaction of properties, production route of materials and the energy and material flow.
