Properties

  • Semester hours: 3.0
  • Credits: 5.0
  • Type: VU Lecture and Exercise

Aim of course

Basic knowledge on corrosion processes and their effects on the behaviour of metallic materials in their application. The limits of materials and the possibilities of corrosion protection are demonstrated.

Subject of course

The various modes of corrosion of metallic materials in various media are discussed. The chemical and physical basics of corrosion processes are presented and the resulting effects are demonstrated by numerous case histories of corrosion failures. Countermeasures and corrosion protection in general are discussed.
