Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to:

  • prepare input data for the simulation model
  • create a model concept with the required level of detail
  • plan simulation experiments (experimental design)
  • develop simple simulation models in SIMIO
  • perform output analyzes

Subject of course

Fundamentals about discrete simulation, description of the simulation process beginning by analysing the problem, creation of a model, introduction and comparison of used simulation tools, practical applications in the process simulation of materials handling equipment and logistic systems, e.g. in airports, seaports, distribution centers, hospitals, production facilities.

Teaching methods

Presentation with slides and discussion of application examples. Discussion about different modeling concepts, such as transport, manufacturing, supply chains etc., short introduction to the software program SIMIO, demonstration and discussion of simple simulation models.
