After successful completion of the course, students are able to calculate the energy conversion in a hydraulic fluid-flow machine (turbines, pumps, pump turbines) based on velocity triangles. Furthermore, they obtain the ability to design hydraulic machines and plants in stationary operation.

In the framework of the lecture, representative exercise examples for the discipline will be solved analytically on the board. In addition, exercises are given for self-study.
The credential consists of three parts: cooperation (attendance), solving the exercises for self-study and a written test at the end of the course.
The students are expected to have theoretical knowledge in the field of flow mechanics and machine elements.
