After successful completion of the course, students are able to independently numerically solve problems related to fluid mechanics using different techniques, namely Finite Differences, Finite Element and Finite Volume methods.
Discrete solutions of Partial Differential Equations and incompressible Navier-Stokes system, implementing codes in Matlab or Octave (Finite Difference Method);
Discrete solutions of Partial Differential Equations and incompressible Navier-Stokes system, implementing codes in FEniCS (Finite Element Method);
Discrete solutions of compressible and incompressible Navier-Stokes system using the solvers implemented in OpenFOAM (Finite Volume Method).
Demonstration of hands-on examples, introduction to using the software FEniCS and OpenFOAM, and team projects.
Course scripts will be distributed during the course and via e-mail.
Further literature references will be added if necessary.
