After successful completion of the course, students are able to...
Thermal engineering processes are often very extensive so that they can not be described in a mathematical way. The aim of the lecture is that the students are able to solve and to extract various problems of thermotechnical processes and their physical behaviour. Also a part of the lecture is to describe methods to solve mathematical relations.
The aim of the course is to teach methods for abstraction of the physical processes essential for thermal processes into mathematical relationships and their solution. Three essential methods such as simulation (0,1,2,3D and bond graphs), analysis (pinch analysis) and optimization (operation planning) are presented.
This course will be held in "hybrid" format during the summer semester 2022. The majority of lectures will be held on-site. You will find the corresponding venue under "Dates". Two lectures will be held online via Zoom. These are the lectures on 31.03.2022 and 07.04.2022. Further information, as well as the Zoom access links for these dates, can be found in the corresponding TUWEL course.
We would also like to point out that the current rules of conduct at the TU Vienna must be taken into account when participating this course: https://www.tuwien.at/tu-wien/corona
Information on the current examination modalities can be found in the corresponding section.
The proof of performance of the LVA takes the form of a written examination and an interview.
Note for the summer term 2022:
Due to the current situation, all written examinations until (at least) September 30th 2022 will be held as written online examination via Zoom. Examiners and candidates are permanently connected via audio and video via Zoom. At the beginning of the exam, the exam tasks are made available digitally via TUWEL. The exams are processed on paper exclusively with the help of the aids specified in the exam announcement during the lecture. Candidates must scan or photograph the described sheets (in full) within 5 minutes after the examination and uploaded them to TUWEL. Helpful and free scanner apps are Adobe Scan or Office Lens. Candidates should familiarize themselves with these apps and this process and test them in advance.Oral examinations will be held on-site at institute E302.Gladly, we would like to offer the candidates a test run of the online examination mode or clarify the remaining questions via email.Further information on the online exam format can be found in TUcoLab (https://colab.tuwien.ac.at/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=11638408), in particular under point 2.3 "Written online exam on paper".
