After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

• ...to critically examine practical examples of neighbourhood-based mobility in new buildings.
• ...to reflect on urban districts with regard to their effect on sustainable mobility behaviour.
• ...evaluate the planning and implementation of measures for sustainable mobility in urban districts.

The main content of the course is a 3-day field trip to Germany to visit implemented measures for sustainable mobility in urban development areas. The focus is on experiencing, reflecting and evaluating the urban districts with regard to sustainable mobility as well as the discussion with relevant planning actors of the visited urban development projects.

The field trip will take place from 10-12 May 2023. (Exact schedule to follow)

The excursion destinations include e.g. Darmstadt - Lincoln Siedlung, Mannheim - FRANKLIN, Heidelberg - Bahnstadt, ..

Due to the high demand, the following registration modalities apply:

• registration will only be confirmed during the kick-off (compulsory attendance).
• Preference will be given to students who attend the "P3 Quartiersbezogene Mobilitätsplanung".
• Preference will be given to students in the Master of Spatial Planning

Reflecting on urban districts with regard to sustainable mobility using...

• Desktop Research
• On-site visit
• Discussion with relevant planning actors
• Preparation as a profile

The course is immanent to the examination - attendance is compulsory at all course dates.

• Preparation of the excursion:
• Preparation of an (urban development) project as a profile (in groups of 2).
• Follow-up of the excursion:
• Deepening of the profile through findings from the site visit and expert input (in groups of 2).
