After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

• Understand the main spatial econometric models and their applications
• Apply spatial econometric techniques
• Manipulate, transform and display spatial data in R

• Econometric models with spatial dependence (SAR, SEM, SDM)
• Econometric models with spatial heterogeneity (GWR, MGWR)
• Application of the theoretical contents using R

Block 1 at the start of the semester: Theoretical lectures on spatial aspects of econometric modelling, possible estimation techniques and interpretation of results. R codes for the application of the theoretical contents are produced in the tutorial part. Students present a project proposal in teams of two to conclude block 1.

Block 2 at the end of the semester: students present their projects and each give feedback on the project of one other group.

Participation in the lectures and tutorials (10%). Presentation of the project proposal (20%). Presentation of the finished project (50%) and giving feedback to another project (20%). To gain a positive grade a minimum of 50% of the points awardable via the three criteria mentioned have to be gained.
