Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to solve simple legal questions in relateion to business law context situations and to make a first assessment of legal framework govering corporate law constructions.

Students acquire applied basic knowledge of Civil Law, understand legal implications of essential provisions as well as the ability to assess legal consequences. This allows them to independently identify and solve problems of Civil Law with regard to contract conclusion and settlement.

After completing the course, students will be able to

  • reproduce the principles of General Civil Law
  • judge the conclusion of a contract
  • judge when General Terms and Conditions apply or when they do not apply
  • apply the possibilities of legal representation
  • know the process of acquiring property and to distinguish between the various real guarantees
  • name general contestability possibilities of contracts and to estimate consequences as well as interpret consequences
  • describe problems in the fulfillment of the contract and deduce consequences (delay and warranty)
  • differentiate contract types and design contracts.

Teaching methods

In the lecture, the learning content will first be presented by the lecturer and discussed with the students. Based on cases, the mediated contents are applied in individual or group work to concrete life situations. This serves the repetition and deepening of the material, the practice of structured representation of legal problems as well as the linking of different problem areas.

1. Only those students who were registered for this VO in WS 2019 in TISS will be admitted to the exam!

2. For the registered students, compulsory attendance is mandatory in the first lecture. Presence is checked in the order of TISS applications. Absentee students are deregistered and students on the waiting list are admitted in the order of registration. The students being on the waiting list can not participate in the course.

Examination modalities

Wir möchten Sie hiermit auf eine sehr wichtige Änderung in den Studienrechtlichen Bestimmung der TU aufmerksam machen die seit dem 05.02.2014 gelten:

Abmeldung von Prüfungen

§ 18a. (1) Die Studierenden sind berechtigt, sich bis spätestens zwei Arbeitstage vor dem Prüfungstag mündlich, schriftlich oder elektronisch bei der Prüferin/beim Prüfer oder bei der Studiendekanin/beim Studiendekan von der Prüfung abzumelden.

(2) Erscheinen Studierende nicht zu einer Prüfung, ohne sich gemäß Abs. 1 abgemeldet zu haben, so ist die Studiendekanin/der Studiendekan auf Vorschlag der Prüferin/des Prüfers berechtigt, diese Studierenden für einen Zeitraum von acht Wochen von der Anmeldung zu dieser Prüfung auszuschließen. Diese ordnungsrechtliche Frist beginnt mit dem Prüfungstag, an dem die/der Studierende trotz aufrechter Anmeldung ohne vorherige Abmeldung nicht erschienen ist. Die betroffenen Studierenden sind von der Sperre auf geeignete Weise zu informieren.

(3) Kann die/der Studierende nachweisen, dass sie/er durch einen triftigen Grund (zB. Unfall) oder einen anderen besonders berücksichtigungswürdigen Grund an einer rechtzeitigen Abmeldung gemäß Abs. 1 gehindert gewesen ist, ist die Sperre aufzuheben
