After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  • understand the Basics of regional science
  • dicuss the importance of planning for land use decision 
  • explain land use decision in agrarian, industrial and service sector
  • discuss importance of land rent, costs of transportation, accessability and of agglomeration effects
  • describe the role of planning in terms of locational factors and quality of locations
  • identfy, evaluate the importance and impact of technological progress land use structure 
  • describe models of urban structure and selected driving forces of urban development 
  • explain the influence of infrastructure/accessibility and land use regulations on sociospatial structures
  • discuss the basic components of regional development: mobility, demographic development
  • evaluate relevance of spatial planning for selected questions
