Center in the Periphery
In the "Steinhaus" of the architect Günther Domenig we observe and describe the spatial adventure of this place by means of drawings, written or spoken language, as a longer narrative. Was the architect able to make an impact on the surroundings, confront the local landscape and housing with a avandgarde architectural language?
Which sensations did he evoke and provoke? Which impact has his architectural experiment built on his grandmother's lakefront property on the local population? What influence can a building like this have on further cultural developments? ...
A thick hedge separates the stone house from a camping site, for "common" tourism. A "clash of cultures" can be experienced here. What are and were the connecting points?
Excursions to other cultural locations in the area will be the subject of smaller expeditions.
The visit should lead to an independent artistic work. The conceptual result referring the investigations on site can be accomplished individually or in a group.
Discursive, conceptual or more action-oriented practice can happen. The initial confrontation with the site-experience has to be a part of the work.
With newcomers in October 2020 we will deal with topics related to Günther Domenig's work on the basis of his implemented projects in Vienna.
