After successful completion of the course, students are able to to set up there own designprocess. Theoretical analysis and practical exercise should be both integrated in the process in a reasonable way.

The road to a new product is individual, complex and never right or wrong across the board.
Conscious observation, a deep understanding of material and the courage to risk wrong decisions are essential.
Whether developed with a pencil on paper, a finger in the sand or on the computer, an idea rarely matures in a linear move. It builds up, collapses, rolls in a new direction, has to assert itself, is discarded or concretized. The model is also an essential tool in this process. Computer aided as well as analog model making should be a natural part of the design and manufacturing process.

In the central subject of the module, the individual steps of the development process are defined, coordinated and corrected.

COVID-19: If, due to requirements of the federal government or the Vienna University of Technology, it is not possible to hold the course and the examination or the partial performances in presence, the online format will be used. By changing to the online format, the dates announced for the face-to-face course and examination (partial examinations) may change. In the case of a change to the online format, the course will be held via Zoom meetings and the examination mode will be in the corresponding form of a final oral presentation.
