Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand the principles, formalized instruments and recent approaches of urban development, the history of planning cultures and the development of social changes in time in the context of the Central to South East European urbanized areas.

Subject of course

The lecture is organized as a series of talks. A major focus lies with the transfer of knowledge about phenomena that are little dealt within the established context of architecture, planning and design but which are of major relevance for urban change. While the format is set up as an expert talk, each meeting is accompanied by a discussion that relates the topic covered by the experts to the built environment.
