After successful completion of the course, students are able to analyse the complexity of urban systems and the interplay of political, social, economic, ecological and legal processes and to present them in a result-oriented and precise way.

After the positive conclusion of the exercise, they will be able to identify possible fields of action in the urban context and will be able to develop conceptual and methodological urban development projects as part of a team.
The appropriate format, medium and scale can be chosen for the presentation of the developed projects, and the achieved goals can be demonstrated argumentatively with the vocabulary acquired in the LVA.

On the basis of a concrete Viennese urban area (1km x 1km), the theoretical knowledge conveyed in the lecture will be applied and the respective morphological development and typological structuring will be analysed. Potentials and shortcomings will be identified as starting points, which will enable students to develop large-scale design concepts.

By creating variants and working in teams, work results are negotiated and specified in different scales (1:10,000 - 1:200). The main topics here are the granularity, development and programming of building structures, the formation of urban space, the relationship between open space and enclosed space, the significance of the ground floor and the qualification of public space.

Thematic research and analysis with the following project development in group work. Exchange and discussion in weekly work meetings and intensive phases in joint workshops.

In summer semester 2022, the design basics will be offered together.
This should improve the studyability in the Bachelor Architecture and enable you to participate in several design exercises in the same semester.
Therefore, the registration for the design exercises [VU Wohnbau, VU Städtebau, VU Landschaftsarchitektur] in TISS is bundled in the course VU Städtebau.

The registration takes place in 2 phases:

Phase 1: PRE-REGISTRATION (VORANMELDUNG) -  February/14/2022 from 12:00 p.m. to February/20/2022 11:59 p.m.
You choose one of the three options:

• Pre-registration STB+LA / WB (Städtebau + Landschaftsarchitektur / Wohnbau)

If you have already completed STB/LA or WB, or you have another important reason why you cannot do both studios during the same semester, then register for one of the options below:

• Pre-registration WB (Wohnbau)

• Pre-registration STB+LA (Städtebau + Landschaftsarchitektur)

IMPORTANT: Pre-registration guarantees all students a place in a group! This means that the group sizes for VU Wohnbau, VU Städtebau and VU Landschaftsarchitektur can be adjusted.

Phase 2: GROUP REGISTRATION

• STB+LA / WB - February/21/2022 from 12:00 p.m – February/22/2022 11:59 p.m.
  You can register for a coupled group STB+LA/WB.

•  WB – February/23/2022 from 12:00 p.m – 11:59 p.m.
  The group size will be increased and only those who signed up for WB in the pre-registration phase will now be able to select a group. (white list)

•  STB+LA – February/24/2022 from 12:00 p.m – 11:59 p.m.
  The group size will be increased and only those who signed up for STB+LA in the pre-registration phase will now be able to select a group. (white list)

Outside the phase registration, registration for the VUs Wohnbau and Städtebau/Landschaftsarchitektur is not possible!
