After successful completion of the course, students are able to apply key concepts that underlie advanced geometric modeling and computer-aided architectural design systems. They acquire the necessary fundamental knowledge.

The course covers key concepts for advanced geometric modeling and architectural geometry as well as computer-aided architectural design systems. Topics include: offsets; freeform surfaces; motions, sweeping, and shape evolution; deformation; visualization and analysis of shapes; parametric modeling; and performance-based modeling.

• Book used in the course: Architectural Geometry by H. Pottmann, A. Asperl, M. Hofer und A. Kilian, Bentley Institute Press, 2007.

• The core of the course are chapters 10-15 of the above book. Additional course material is available via TUWEL.
• Exam: written exam at the end of January. Sign up online for the exam via TISS. An additional exam will be offered in the spring semester.
• This lecture is highly recommended as a preparation for the exercises in CAAD and Geometry in the summer term.
• Knowledge of the concepts presented in the lecture are a prerequisite for the exercises.
