After successful completion of the course, students are able to classify industrial building systems and their application across materials and to critically evaluate and reflect on the structural and structural engineering implementation of the load-bearing and structural elements relevant for the design.
In addition to the cross-material examination of planar and spatial load-bearing and construction systems of building construction, the following fundamental questions about the technology of industrial construction will be addressed in the lecture:What influence(s) did industrial building have on the social and cultural development of society? How does(did) the technological development of building methods influence the prerequisites for a healthy way of life?
Topics:Elementary technological developments in building - ceiling and wall systemsIndustrial developments of (building) construction methods in comparisonIndustrial construction/prefabrication - Craft constructionBuilding with system/modular building - build on demandSolid construction methods for a better life - The terrace houseLightweight construction - structure and form, pre-stressing, material and mass input, textile construction, changeable structures
