After successful completion of the course, students are able to process the results of the design/workshops ("Hallstatt_Denkwerkstatt" 2021S/W and "Hallstatt_Wohnen im Schaufenster" 2020S/2021S), to condense the content and to design and create a publication format.
• Theme
Going beyond the much-discussed topic of overtourism, Hallstatt and the Salzkammergut region play a special role in the question of housing needs and living environments of the most diverse user groups (residents, students, tourists, etc.), which sometimes present new and innovative perspectives and requires impulses. In addition, parameters such as new working environments, digitization, mobility issues, the consequences of the Covid 19 pandemic and the resulting new role of rural areas open up a wide range of future issues.
Several design formats and workshops are part of the applied research project "Living in Extremis: Hallstatt - Salzkammergut 2024", which includes focal points in research and teaching and in close cooperation with art and cultural institutions such as the European Capital of Culture Bad Ischl Salzkammergut 2024 and the Festival of Regions 2021 and the municipality of Hallstatt deepened questions and studies on these topics.
• Task
For an accompanying publication format for the dialogue format "Hallstatt_Denkwerkstatt" on site in early summer 2022, corresponding contributions are to be developed and presented, the university work is to be carried out publicly and thus impulses for the current architectural discourse and dialogue (on site) are to be set.
The work process in the workshop includes the conception and design of a publication format (series/series), which should also be the framework for further, new discourse contributions. The basis is formed by the results of the previous design and workshops (Hallstatt_Denkwerkstatt 2024 and Hallstatt_Wohnen im Schaufenster). The communication/interaction with other actors involved (graphic designers, photographers, guest authors, etc.) are also essential aspects of this format.
The work process begins with analyzes of the existing basic material and reference examples. In the further process, the work on the publication format follows on the basis of the documentation of the drafts and the on-site events (exhibition, think tank,...).
