After successful completion of the course, students are able to know and describe criteria for scientific work in the feidl of architecture. They understand their specific consequences and interrelationships and are able to apply scientific assertions and methods to concrete research questions. They are able to evaluate scientific texts and integrate them into their own research work. They are able to master the elementary rules for relating scientific content in different types of text for different audiences and are able to present these in written form and verbal form.
The focus of the investigation are educational landscapes with their formal and informal educational locations and their impact on educational processes. How does the room serve as a third educator? How does it affect educational processes?
We dedicate ourselves in particular to the Viennese phenomenon "Bildungsgrätzl", which means the cooperation between formal educational institutions and institutions in the areas of (adult) education, youth and social work, sport, culture and health. In Vienna we have 18 existing "Bildungsgrätzl", which have been spread across the districts over the past few years. Research and analyzes of the existing Bildungsgrätzl serve to create the basis for the establishment of a new Bildungsgrätzl in the Per Albin Hansson settlement in the 10th district of Vienna. In the elective seminar papers, spatial facts about the so called Per Albin Hansson quarter are collected by means of research, observations, interviews and analyzes. New data will be generated and placed in relation to the existing educational districts.
