After successful completion of the course, students are able to understand the development of the concept of the building concept and to understand the current understanding of the term in different contexts.
The course reviews the modern and postmodern architectural vocabulary that constitutes the contemporary understanding of building typology and functional programming. Based on this critical review of the past, several new conceptual strategies are discussed and compared. Superdensity is used as a general laboratory to develop building typologies beyond the contemporary status.
