After successful completion of the course, students are able to know and describe criteria for scientific work in the feidl of architecture. They understand their specific consequences and interrelationships and are able to apply scientific assertions and methods to concrete research questions. They are able to evaluate scientific texts and integrate them into their own research work. They are able to master the elementary rules for relating scientific content in different types of text for different audiences and are able to present these in written form and verbal form.
In fall 2020 the seminar investigates the question of quality judgements in architecture. We will research various media that select certain buildings from the mass of architectural production. Our focus will be on criteria and processes. For practical comparison, we will focus on the production in Vienna between 2016 and 2019 and create a map of examples and then try to identify the gaps in this map and try to fill them.
