Based on an annually changing thematic focus from the field of art and architecture history, the students are to write a scientific paper. Within the framework of the seminar, basic scientific working methods and approaches to the methodical and content-related structuring of the work are taught.
Students are required to prepare a short academic work on the basis of a topic focus changing each year from the field of the history of art and architecture. The seminar communicates approaches for the structuring of the work in terms of method and content. Each student is expected to present his topic within the framework of a short paper in the seminar.
The Viennese residential building and its equipment 2.
The seminar s devoted to one of the most striking and important building types, the residential building. It is part of a cycle spreading over several semesters and focussing on the architecture of Viennese residential buildings from the late Middle Ages till today.
The beginning in this semester 2021 is made by residences and palaces from the late Middle Ages till 1815 as a special type of living, including the buildings of the Habsburg court and of the nobility. The title is:

After a short introduction we will - if possible due to the actual situation - proceed to the topic by excursions in small groups. After that, there will be two input session with lectures and introductions into scientific work and graphic analysis before the students present their preliminary results. A final presentation with experts will be held at the beginning of July 2021.
