After successful completion of the course, students are able to formulte crucial aspect of the cultural heritage in austria and they will be trained to evaluate a given site with existing historical architecture. They will be capable of developping an original design project according to given tasks and prepare a comprehensive concept as well as a successful artistic design solution that demosntrates knowldge and respect for the cultural heritage.
This semester the studio will focus on the historical heritage of the former cloister in Kleinmariazell. We will explore new functions in order to revitalize the areal. A farm, a tavern, a church and cloister, a garden are part of the complex ensemle.
An excursion to the site will be offered.
Firts meeting March 5, at 11 AM seminarroom 251
In this class students will apply standard methods of architecture documentation like measuring methods, photo documentation, literature research, formal analyses, typology. Methods refer to the built matter as well as to the theoretical level and imply a historical, contextual programmatic approach.
