Subject of course

Friedrich Achleitner worked on the project "Austrian Architecture in the 20th Century - A Guide in Three Volumes" from 1965 to 2010. This has resulted in primary research on the history of 20th-century architecture that is unique in Europe, including first-time recourse to the development of 19th century industrial and everyday architecture, which is significant in terms of architectural history. The result of this research is an extensive archive and the publications of the so-called " Achleitner Guide". However, after the publication of the 3rd Vienna volume, the then 80-year-old Achleitner stopped working on the architectural guide for reasons of age, leaving a large gap. All the provinces and Vienna were edited and published by him, only Lower Austria could not be finally edited and published. The project "Architekturführer Niederösterreich" aims to update Achleitner's research approach to the history of architecture, and to complete the project "Austrian Architecture in the 20th Century" for the whole of Austria by scientifically processing the only missing federal state of Lower Austria.

"In cooperation with the Architekturzentrum Wien and the Stiftung Forum Morgen, the research area Building History::Building Research is working on the Architekturführer Niederösterreich (Architectural Guide to Lower Austria), which is intended to complete Friedrich Achleitner's work on the subject as the final chapter in his series.

Following the passing of Friedrich Achleitner in 2019 and Dietmar Steiner, the former director of the Architekturzentrum Wien, a long-standing cooperation partner of Achleitner, the methods of Achleitner are to be discussed in talks with companions and examples of documented objects will be presented.
