After successful completion of the course, students are able to develop a design project according to given tasks and prepare a comprehensive concept as well as a successful artistic design solution. Students will be able to communicate key ideas and qualities of their concepts.

Wine culture, cultural heritage Kellergassen and Tourism in Austria

This semester the studio will focus on designing tourist spaces in relation to local wine production in  Austria. We will first take a look at the cultural heritage in various wine regions in Austria and soft tourism concepts in connection with wine production and marketing.  The students will develop new visons and create new sustainable concepts for the old spaces.

An excursion to local wineries and Kellergassen ensmbles will be offered. It is recommended but not required to join the excursion.

We will start with a comprehensive analyses that adresses issues of cultural heritage, in particular values in architecture, aspects of building preservation, and a discourse analyses. This will be followed by a step by step design phase where the theoretical concept will be transferred into an architectual design.
