Learning outcomes

After successful completion of the course, students are able to describe:

Methods and software for structural design in the early planning phases

Methods and software for parametric design in early planning phases

Methods for applying interfaces for data transfer from analytical models in Grasshopper to architectural models in BIM software and finite element method software

Which processes and data structures are necessary to carry out a structural design optimization

This course is offered to students of architecture and civil engineering.

Part 1: Theoretical Basics - Basics of Rhino and Grasshopper software

Part 2: Presentation of the optimization script for a predefined construction task

Part 3: Interdisciplinary modeling and optimization

Part 4: Interfaces and Data Exchange Grasshopper to BIM and FEM

Part 5: Presentation of the projects developed by the students
