After successful completion of the course, students are able to determine the complexity of cost-relevant factors and to create a cost calculation for a developed example in teams. The students can describe cost influencing factors (from planning effort to execution) through the analysis and evaluation of cost-relevant aspects in the design process.
For the preparation of the course, the entire group is divided into small groups (3-4 students), which then cost-assess a given planning task according to the design objectives.
Appointment 1: Introduction and theoretical background: Cost-relevant factors within the design process (planning process), output of the planning task
Appointment 2: Design development with an example: management of influenceability / control options: analysis of the cost impact of concrete design decisions, analysis in the group
Appointment 3: Calculation / cost estimation for the specific design example
Appointment 4: Presentation
The students plan a building and use this practical example to calculate the total cost of the project. The basis for this is the Ö-Norm 1801 and the construction cost index. They learn to analyze cost metrics and evaluate the project in its entirety.
Zuordnung im Masterstudium Bauingenieurwesen (Studienkennzahl: 066 505): Modul 2 der Vertiefungsrichtung Bauprozessmanagement; Modul 3 der anderen Vertiefungsrichtungen
- Presentation folder with the description of the project (scope and content), presentation of the planning (preliminary design): floor plans (ground floor, floor) and sections, presentation of the costs
- An oral presentation with the content mentioned that should be designed for a potential client. Template for the presentation can be found in TUWEL
The student has to be enrolled for at least one of the studies listed below
