After successful completion of the course, students are able to...

  • apply national (ÖNORM, RVS) and European Standardizations
  • understand the basics of the European construction products directive (CPD)
  • explain the applicability and Limits of CE Marking of Construction Materials
  • select suitable aggregates for different fields of application
  • describe basis of complex material behavior of Bitumen and Asphalt mixtures including ageing
  • explain the characterization of viscoelastic, mechanical properties of Bitumen and Asphalt in the laboratory and the modelling of these
  • carry out optimizations of Asphalt mixture according to the empirical and performance-based concept
  • demonstrate energy efficient Asphalt pavements
  • understand basics of spectroscopic and microscopic techniques for the analysis of construction materials
  • describe the properties of concrete relevant for traffic route construction
