Goals of waste management and landfilling. The different concepts of landfilling. Landfill types and classes. Landfill siting, planning, operation, and after care. Landfills as biogeochemical ractor and as final sinks. Liners and top covers. Water and susbtance balances and emissions from landfilling and pollution abatement. Landfill remediation.

An excursion to a landfill or contaminated site is planned, the date for the excursion will be agreed with the students.
